My Low-Key Morning Routine

November 30, 2016

This week I had some gentle reminders of how important our morning routines are for setting the tone for the day/week/life. I love my sleep so every minute counts in the morning. Whether you have 5 minutes or an hour, set some time aside for you and listen to what your body needs.

This week my morning routine consisted of: (FYI this routine was under 10 minutes)

✔️  10 deep breaths with a moment of gratitude 📿  I also take this time for a little self love and add in some positive affirmations or mantras depending on what I need that day. Being a rookie in the ND world I needed a little confidence boost so my mantra this week was "I love you for all that you are and all that you are not".

✔️  Physically sitting down to drink my coffee ☕️.  The ritual of holding that warm cup in my hands is comforting. Combine that with finding that perfect spot in your home to catch a few rays of sun at the same time is golden. This allows me to slow down and actually enjoy my cup of coffee.

✔️ My version of journaling 📝  This week my journalling consisted of writing only a few words that I could connect to recurrent thoughts I had been having, goals that I am working on and dreams that I'm manifesting. When I have time later in the day, I come back to these words and elaborate on them. Don't be afraid to tell the universe what it is you desire.

The beauty of your morning routine is that it is yours and you can change it from day to day depending on your needs. Do what feels right for you in that moment.

Other ideas I love:

  • At the end of the day, make a list of things you'd like to accomplish the following day. In the morning you can review this list and set strategies in place for how to accomplish these goals. This will also help keep your mind from racing at night knowing that you have these ideas/tasks safely waiting for you on a piece of paper.

  • If you like to avoid coffee in the morning, warm (not boiling hot) lemon water can be a great replacement and you get the added benefits of stimulating the your digestion and giving the liver a little extra love.

What does your morning routine look like ?
